The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara is flying the Thai National Flag at half mast in Solidarity with Türkiye's national mourning after the devastating earthquakes in the southern provinces of Türkiye on 6 February 2023.
H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, has sent H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, a message of condolences on the disaster:
I have learned with profound sadness of the tragic news regarding the earthquake in southern Türkiye, which has caused the loss of numerous lives and injuries.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Thailand, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of Türkiye, and especially to the bereaved families. I wish to further extend, through Your Excellency, the strength and courage to your country and people to remain strong during this difficult time."
H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, has also sent H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, a message of condolences on the unfortunate occasion:
I have learned with deep sorrow of the tragic earthquake in the southern provinces of Türkiye, causing irreparable loss of lives, thousands of injuries, as well as extensive destruction.
On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, I would like to extend my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you as well as to the bereaved families and those affected by this devastating disaster."
On 8 February 2023, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited the Residence of the Ambassador of Türkiye to Thailand (H.E. Mrs. Serap Ersoy) to sign the book of condolence regarding the devastating earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş Province and surrounding provinces.
