On 7 December  2014, His Excellency Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Ambassador of Thailand presided over the celebration organized by Thai workers at Tufanbeyli coal thermal powerplant, Adana province, to celebrate the occasion of the 87^th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's. The event was attended by SK Engineering and Construction company (SKEC Anadolu Muhendisik Ve Insaat Ltd. Si) representative, Mr. Yang Hoon Lee, Vice President of Tufanbeyli TP project, embassy representative, representatives from VINC Placement company and 1023 Thai workers.

During the official ceremony, Ambassador Charungvat  joined the Thai community to sing the Royal Anthem and Sadudee Maharaja. Afterwards, Ambassador Charungvat delivered a speech commending Thai workers for their professionalism and high quality workmanship and encouraged them to continue to maintain such high standards as the Turkish government plans to construct several more coal thermal power plants in the future, which could lead to future employment opportunities for skilled Thai workers.

Ambassador Charungvat also held talks with executives of SKEC company and took the opportunity to thank them for employing and taking care of the well being of the Thai workers working under this project.

SKEC company won the government bid to construct a thermal coal power plant at Tufanbeyli, worth 700 million Euros in 2014. To ensure the successful completion of the construction, SKEC hired approximately 1200 Thai skilled workers specializing in areas such as engineering, welding, camp boss, foreman supervisor.
