Dr. Winai Dahlan, Director of the Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, gave an interview to the Aksiyon Magazine, issue of 6-12 January 2014, about potentials of the Thai halal industry and the halal quality control capacity of his Center based on the scientific test, said to be the first in the world. Seeing the rapidly growing awareness of halal products in Turkey, the Director eyes the export of halal products to increase Thailand-Turkey trade ties.

In the article “Halal VS Haram” written by Mr. Mesut Çevikalp, Dr. Dahlan said that Thailand is one of the most convenient countries in Far East where you can find halal food easily. The country's halal food market is growing at about 20 percent each year. He observes that the sensitivity for halal products is also awakening in Turkey. Turkish participants are attending courses on halal food education at the Center. The Director anticipates that in the near future halal food products will be included in bilateral trade.

Investments in the Thai Halal Industry done in the past to respond to the sensitivity of 6 million Muslims currently become a serious advantage for Thailand in the global food industry. Thailand has raised to fifth place in halal food industry in 2012 and now targets to expand into Middle Eastern markets besides 600 million USD Asian market.
