On 18 January 2014, His Excellency Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Turkey hosted a dinner for representatives of the Thai community in Istanbul. The purpose of the gathering was for Ambassador Charungvat to introduce himself to the Thai Community after his recent assumption to his duty in Turkey, and discuss matters regarding the Thai overseas general election in Istanbul, scheduled to be held on 19 January 2014.

       During the dinner, Ambassador Charungvat expressed his admiration for the Thai community in Istanbul, who through their strong knit family like atmosphere and highly skilled professionals working in the Turkish service sector, have greatly contributed towards the economic and people - to people bilateral relations between Thailand and Turkey.

        Ambassador Charungvat also commended the Thai Community for their continued support of Embassy's activities, in particular consular affairs and reaffirmed the readiness of the Royal Thai Embassy in supporting future activities of the Thai Community in Istanbul.
