On 7 December 2012, Mrs. Thanaporn Manathat, spouse of the Thai Ambassador to Turkey, on behalf of the Royal Thai Embassy to Turkey, donated some handicraft materials to the Ankara Thai Handicraft Group (ATHG), represented by the Group’s Leader Mrs. Chariya Erman and Mrs. Naravadee Yılmaz, to support the Group’s activities and further enhance its members’ handicraft making skill. On the same occasion, Mrs. Manathat also handed them the proceeds of the sale of the group’s products in the ASEAN Bazaar and DMEDD Charity Bazaar which were recently held in Ankara.

ATHG comprises mainly of Thai housewives, married to the Turkish nationals, who reside in Ankara. The objectives of the groups are to strengthen solidarity amongst its members, to promote better understanding between Thais and Turkish through Thai handicrafts and to generate extra income for the group members.

The Government of Thailand attaches high importance to the well-being of the Thai nationals residing in foreign countries by reaching out to them, enhancing their relevant skills and giving them necessary support and advice in accordance with the Thai and particularly local laws, regulations and tradition.
