Ambassador of Thailand to Turkey Presents Credentials to President of Georgia

On 31 October 2014, H.E. Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Turkey, presented Letters of Credenceto H.E. Mr. Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia, to assume his full tenure as the Ambassador of Thailand to Georgia.

Before the Ceremony on 30 October 2014, H.E. Mr. Tharit presented a copy of the Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr. David Jalagania, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, and held a bilateral discussion. Both agreed that Thailand and Georgia have vast potentials to diversify relations in multi-dimensions, tapping on both countries’ strategic locations – Thailand being the hub of ASEAN, East Asia and beyond while Georgia as a connection to Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Southern Caucasus.

In addition to exchange of high level visit, Thailand and Georgia concurred to accelerate bilateral agreement negotiations as a tool to tighten relations and to cooperate in the multilateral arena.

H.E. Mr. Tharit then attended the Cocktail Dinner hosted by H.E. Mrs. Maia Panjikidze, Foreign Minister of Georgia. He congratulated Georgia in a speech on the latest news that Georgia was selected by www.see.place.com as one of the top ten safest countries in the world and that Fitch, an international credit rating company, upgraded Georgia’s investment outlook from “stable” to “positive”.

He also held a talk with H.E. Mr. Zaza Sopromadze, Deputy Minister of Health, Labour and Social Affairs, to seek cooperation in taking care of the Thai workers, around 60 in Tbilisi and Batumi.

Apart from the meetings with Georgia’s high-ranking representatives, the Ambassador of Thailand had a meeting with Mr. Kakha Baindurashvili, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia. As learning of Georgia’s increasing interests towards Asia, he extended his invitation to the Georgia business people to visit Thailand and offered his readiness to organise a business matching activity between Thailand and Georgia to create real trade between the two countries.

H.E. Mr. Tharit also had a warm meeting with around 20 Thai residents in Georgia over a dinner. In this occasion, the Thai community in Georgia thanked H.E. the Ambassador for the initiative that valuably allowed the Thai people in Georgia to get together and strengthen the unity of the Thai community in Georgia.
