On 25 July 2014, H.E. Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Ambassador of Thailand, presented the Letter of Credence by which His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej graciously appointed him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Macedonia, with residence in Ankara, to H.E. Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, President of the Republic of Macedonia, at the Presidential Palace, “Villa Vodno,” in Skopje. During the Credential Presentation Ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Charungvat delivered a speech expressing his will to strengthen bilateral relations between Thailand and Macedonia in all levels and aspects, while in H.E. the President’s remarks, H.E. Dr. Ivanov congratulated H.E. the Ambassador and wished him a success in exercising his duty. H.E. the President also emphasized on the prospect to promote bilateral relations, especially economic cooperation, to mark the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Macedonia in the year 2015.
Earlier that day, H.E. the Ambassador had a meeting with H.E. Mrs. Dragana Kiprijanovska, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, to present the copy of the Letter of Credence. The two sides had a fruitful discussion on ways and means to further promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of mutual interest and to boost two-way trade and investment.
On the same day, H.E. Ambassador Charungvat also met with the executive of the Economic Chamber of the Republic of Macedonia and the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion to discuss on the economic potentials of Thailand and the Republic of Macedonia and the prospect cooperation between private sectors of the two countries.
H.E. Mr. Charungvat also paid a visit to the National and University Library of “St. Kliment Ohridski,” the oldest and largest library of the Republic, to present a collection of books on Thailand which will serve as a bridge that brings Thailand closer to the Macedonians. Later that day, a meeting between the Thai Ambassador and the Thai citizens residing in Skopke and its proximity was held.
