Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Turkey meets with President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency

         On 2 May 2014, His Excellency Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Turkey had a meeting with Mr. Serdar Çam, President of the Turkish Cooperation Agency - TIKA).

        During the meeting, Mr. Çam informed Ambassador Charungvat that Turkey gives importance to providing technical assistance to developing countries and currently has 48 focus countries, which includes DPR Laos and Cambodia . Furthermore, Mr. Çam  informed Ambassador Charungvat of TIKA's plans to open a Southeast Asian office. Ambassador Charungvat commended TIKA's for its supportive role in advancing Turkish bilateral relations with developing countries, in particular Cambodia and Laos.

        Ambassador Charungvat and Mr. Çam agreed that Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) should look at the possibility of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Technical Cooperation to establish a framework for cooperation between the two government agencies. Regarding TIKA's plans to open a Southeast Asian Office, Ambassador Charungvat informed that it would be cost effective for TIKA to open its office in Thailand, since it is a geographical hub that is able to connect all countries within South East Asia and has a low cost of living. Mr. Çam expressed an interest to Ambassador Charungvat's suggestion.
