On 9 January 2014, His Excellency Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Turkey, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Ömer Önhon, Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

        During the meeting, Deputy Undersecretary Önhon congratulated Ambassador Charungvat on his appointment and Ambassador Charungvat reiterated his intentions to further enhance bilateral ties in all areas of interest and suggested that a realistic and comprehensive plan be put in place to further boost political, economic and cultural cooperation between both sides.

        Ambassador Charungvat  suggested more active utilization of existing mechanisms such as the Political Consultation between Thailand and Turkey and increase in frequency of meetings between high ranking officials through exchange of visits and or at international forums where attended by both sides.  Deputy Undersecretary Önhon supported the idea and reaffirmed the Turkish Government's intention to dispatch a high level delegation to Thailand in 2014.
