The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara held culture and tourism promotion activity in the 2nd Cultural Tourism Summit and Fair, co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the Association of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and the Municipality of Ankara, at ATO Congresium International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Ankara from 20 – 23 December 2012.

Thailand booth, beautifully decorated with Thai handicraft and art, such as colorful hand-painted umbrellas and dolls, attracted great interest from the visitors, including H.E. Mr. Alâaddin Yüksel, Governor of Ankara, who presided over the Fair and paid a visit to Thailand booth on the opening day. During H.E. the Governor’s visit, on behalf of the Royal Thai Embassy, Ms. Chawanis Chawanawong, First Secretary, presented him with a set of books on Thai culture and tourism as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Turkey and the Royal Thai Embassy and Municipality of Ankara. H.E. the Governor also expressed his appreciation to the Royal Thai Embassy for the close and cordial cooperation and mutual assistance and his wish to see more cooperation between Bangkok and Ankara as “sister cities”. H.E. the Governor and his delegation also seemed to enjoy the taste of “Luk Chub”, a kind of Thai sweet in the shape of various fruits in miniature size.

The Cultural Tourism Summit and Fair was first held in 2011 with the aim of promoting Turkish tourism as well as introducing different cultures of foreign countries to the Turkish public. The Fair which was well-attended by over 1,000 visitors provided both Thailand and Turkey an opportunity to appreciate the different cultures which will lead to the closer ties of friendship of the two countries and peoples.
